GB0BMB, International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend Special Event Station

The Beaulieu Millennium Beacon was established 8th July 2000 and replaced an existing unlit rear transit mark. The light was built in the garden of Lepe House, owned by the Hon. Mr. Pease who donated the site.

GB0BMB has been operating, with permission from the owners of Lepe House since about 2006 where we are allowed the use of the gardens to erect our station.

Setting up for Lighthouse Weekend starts on the Friday afternoon. The G5RV is put up, the generator canopy is made up and the gazebo is staked and guyed ready to do battle with the constant wind off the Solent. On Saturday morning the generator is installed along with the radio equipment and more importantly the tea making equipment ready for our 0800 UTC start; we like to let the residents in Lepe House have a lay in before we fire up the generator. Being August we at least have the chance to be warm and often find the opportunity to open up the gazebo.

GB0BMB, The QSL Card is by local artist Gervase Gregory who by kind permission allows us to use it each year. You may recognise the name from some of our other QSL cards.
